The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) is a leader in earthquake investigations and dissemination of earthquake risk reduction information. Every year, they hold the Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition.
In 2012, I was a part of the University of Puerto Rico’s Seismic team. Our team spent all year researching, developing, testing, and reconfiguring our entry for the competition. Finally, we flew to Tennessee to represent our university in the Seismic Competition. As a result, we won the 2012 Kinematics Award: Spirit of the Competition.
