Toastmasters International Volunteer

I joined Toastmasters in 2018 on the recommendation of my mom, who knew how passionate I was about public speaking and leadership from my time in the Girl Scouts and other leadership roles. Growing up, I was often told that I had a natural talent for public speaking, so when I learned about Toastmasters International—an educational non-profit dedicated to helping people become better leaders and communicators—I saw it as a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and further develop my skills. My goal was to become an international speaker who could help strengthen relationships between people of different cultures, backgrounds, and communities.

As an Area Director and Division Director for District 18, I successfully guided and inspired a team of over 150 members across three geographically dispersed areas for both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Toastmasters years. I led by example, directing club officers through Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) training, organizing public speaking contests at the club, area, and division levels, and crafting comprehensive club success plans. I provided unwavering support to ensure everyone was aligned with Toastmasters International’s vision and district goals.

I also had the privilege of presiding over an international club called Buddies, where members from over 10+ countries—many of whom speak English as a second language—come together in a fully online environment. Our club’s motto, “In Buddies We Support Each Other,” reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community, where every member is encouraged to grow and succeed.
